Larry Bell Park is a vibrant destination for athletics and entertainment. With 46 acres and a wide range of facilities, it caters to sports enthusiasts and culture lovers alike. Located at 542 Fairground Street, this park combines fun, fitness, and a touch of theatrical flair.

Sports Amenities

Larry Bell Park is the go-to destination for sports lovers. Its four baseball fields (Perry Parham Memorial Baseball Fields) are perfect for youth baseball programs, giving young athletes a space to develop their skills. The batting cages are ideal for anyone looking to practice their swing—just keep an eye on the ball, not the hot dog stand!

The park also offers two tennis courts and six pickleball courts. Pickleball, a mix of tennis and badminton, is easy to learn and a blast to play. Challenge a friend, and let the best player buy the post-game snacks.

Family Fun

Families will find plenty to enjoy at Larry Bell Park. Two playgrounds, including one designed for children with disabilities, ensure all kids can have fun. The picnic pavilion is perfect for gatherings, with a nearby concession building for convenient treats (open during baseball games).

The horseshoe pits provide a nostalgic touch, offering a fun and relaxed activity. It’s the only place where throwing metal objects around is encouraged, and it’s a great way to bond with family and friends.

Central Aquatic Center

The Central Aquatic Center‘s competitive pool features 10 lanes, and the dive well has two 1-meter and one 3-meter diving boards. For those who prefer dry land, the weight room is fully equipped with resistance and cardio equipment. Kids under 16 need an adult with them in the weight room. The venue offers swim lessons, aqua-aerobics, American Red Cross lifeguard training program, and more.

Cobb Gymnastic Center

The Cobb Gymnastic Center offers a variety of classes for boys and girls, from preschoolers to adults. New to gymnastics or looking to perfect your skills? There’s a class for you. Just be sure to meet the age requirements—no sneaking into the advanced tumbling class!

Jennie T. Anderson Theatre

The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, with its 606 seats, is the cultural centerpiece of the park. The theatre’s Encore Series features top national acts, bringing concerts, plays, and other performances to Marietta. It’s the perfect venue for a night out, offering entertainment that rivals any big-city theater.

Cobb Civic Center

Next to the theatre, the Cobb Civic Center is ideal for hosting events ranging from trade shows and conferences to basketball tournaments and private gatherings. With a capacity of 2,500 people, plenty of parking, a modern lobby, a large event floor, eight meeting rooms, and a professional catering kitchen, it’s well equipped for any event.

Larry Bell Park

From tennis matches and baseball games to theater nights and family picnics, the park is a vibrant part of Marietta. So, grab your racket, or put on your swim cap, and head to the park for a day of entertainment, fitness, and fun. Bonus Trivia

Just beyond the outfield of the large baseball field, between the ball field and the gymnastics center is a small stone building with bars on the windows.  This was the dynamite building for the county farm prison, located on this site in the early 1900’s.

In the mid 1940’s, the land was repurposed to create a recreation area for Bell Aircraft employees as well as Marietta and Cobb County residents.  The park is named after Lawrence “Larry” Bell, founder of the Bell Aircraft Corporation.
