The Central Aquatic Center is the ultimate destination for swimming and fitness enthusiasts. This facility has been a splash hit since its construction in 1985 and continues to make waves with its top-notch amenities and programs.

Swimming Facilities

The centerpiece of the Central Aquatic Center is its impressive pool area, featuring both a competitive pool and a dive well. The competitive pool measures 75 feet by 75 feet, offering 10 lanes for serious swimmers to practice their strokes. With a water capacity of 230,000 gallons, there’s plenty of room to dive in without worrying about bumping elbows.

For those who prefer to make a bigger splash, the dive well spans 40 feet by 75 feet and holds 170,000 gallons of water. It’s equipped with two 1-meter diving boards and one 3-meter board, perfect for executing those daring dives or just showing off in front of friends.

Programs and Classes

The Central Aquatic Center offers a variety of programs for different interests and skill levels, from novice swimmers to aqua aerobics aficionados:

  • Swimming Lessons: Learn to swim with confidence with our structured lessons led by experienced instructors.
  • Aqua-Aerobics: Make a splash while getting fit with our fun and energetic aqua-aerobics classes.
  • Open Swim: Enjoy a relaxing swim during designated open swim times, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training: Take the plunge into lifeguard training and gain valuable skills that could save lives.

Fitness Facilities

Beyond the pool, the Central Aquatic Center has a fully equipped weight room. Featuring both resistance and cardio equipment, it’s designed to help you build strength and stamina. Just remember, children under 16 aren’t allowed in the weight room unless accompanied by an adult. It’s a great place to flex those muscles and maybe, just maybe, find out how much iron you can pump before you need a nap.

Important Guidelines

To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, there are a few rules to keep in mind:

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children under 16 are not allowed in the weight room, and those under 18 must have an adult present.
  • Lap lanes are for serious lap swimmers. Kids under 16 need an adult in the same lane, except during open swim.
  • During open swim, children are not allowed in the lap lanes.

Facility Details

The Central Aquatic Center has a seating capacity of 620, including 150 upstairs and 470 downstairs, so there’s plenty of room for spectators to cheer on their favorite swimmers. Parking is ample, with 189 spaces, including 7 designated for handicapped access.

Since its renovation in 2002, the center has maintained its modern amenities and continues to provide a welcoming environment for all visitors. So grab your goggles, your swimsuit, and maybe a rubber ducky for good luck, and head to the Central Aquatic Center for a splashing good time.
