The Marietta Square now has an “entertainment district” in which you can purchase alcoholic beverages to-go and then walk around the district with an open-container. Restaurants, bars, and breweries with alcohol licenses are authorized to sell to-go alcoholic beverages.
There are no day or time restrictions other than drinks can only be purchased when restaurants, bars, and breweries are allowed to sell alcohol. Drinks available include mixed drinks, cocktails, beers, and glasses of wine in clear plastic to-go cups.
The entertainment district specifically excludes Glover Park and the adjacent sidewalks surrounding the park at the center of Marietta Square. The sidewalks across the street from Glover Park are included in the entertainment district.
The entertainment district began as a 1-year trial that started on November 12, 2020. During the first year, it was only permitted to sell to-go containers on Thursdays from 5 pm until 10 pm, Friday from 5 pm until 11 pm, and Saturday from 10 am until 11 pm. When the district was made permanent on November 11, 2021, the day and time restrictions were removed.
