The U.S. 10K Classic took place on Labor Day from 1994-2010, and cancelled for 2011 and 2012. In January of 2013, the event organizer Don Whitney announced that, after 17 years, the race has been “officially retired” citing declining sponsorships and “unforeseen obstacles.” The race was a challenging 10,000 meter (6.2 mile) race that began at Cumberland Mall, traveled along U.S. Hwy 41 (Cobb Parkway), and ended at White Water/American Adventures Theme Parks.

So I was hoping to sign up for this event. Is there a registration going on yet? Is it really going to take place this year? Renee
Hi Renee,
The race founder Don Whitney just this month announced that, after 17 years, the race has been “officially retired” citing declining sponsorships and “unforeseen obstacles.”
Really disappointed in the cancelation of this event. I did it about 7 times. It was my favorite and pretty much the only one I did anymore. will be missed!
Very disapointed 🙁 I won a free entry to the US 10K during the Peachtree Road Race Expo a couple years ago… Since this event is now retired…is there another one the founders will offer as a replacement?
